Submit Pension Papers 6 Months Before Retirement

As per Kerala Treasury rules, pension papers must reach the Treasury at least 6 months before the date of retirement to ensure the PPO (Pension Payment Order) is ready before the last working day. Late submission causes pension delay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many months before retirement should pension papers be submitted?

Pension papers should be submitted to the Treasury at least 6 months before the date of retirement so that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) is ready before the last working day.

What is Form TR 83B used for in pension?

Form TR 83B is an undertaking given by the retiring employee to draw pension through a Treasury Savings Bank (TSB) account. It is mandatory when opting to receive pension via the treasury.

Is a No Demand Certificate (NDC) mandatory for all departments?

Yes. NDC is required from every section where the employee has held charge — library, stores, quarters, transport, and any department that issued government property. All NDCs must be attached before pension papers are forwarded.

Can family pension be claimed without a nomination?

Yes. Even without a prior nomination, eligible family members (spouse, children) can claim family pension by producing a Legal Heir Certificate and dependency proof. A nomination makes the process faster.

What is the time limit for commutation of pension without medical examination?

Commutation without medical examination (Form D) can be applied within one year from the date of retirement. After one year, medical examination by an authorised Medical Officer is required (Form A).

Is Aadhaar mandatory for pension?

Yes. Aadhaar is required for PRISM registration, digital life certificate (Jeevan Pramaan), and for pension account KYC at the treasury. Biometric life certificates via Aadhaar are now accepted from any Common Service Centre.

What is the last date to submit the life certificate for pensioners?

Life certificates must be submitted every year in November. Pensioners can submit via Jeevan Pramaan (biometric), bank branch, sub-treasury, or Common Service Centres.

Who is eligible for DCRG (Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity)?

Under KSR Part III Rule 77, Retirement Gratuity (DCRG) is payable to an employee who has completed a minimum of 5 years of qualifying service. Death Gratuity (on death in service) is payable regardless of length of service. The DCRG amount is calculated as (N/4) × Emoluments, where N is the number of completed half-yearly periods of qualifying service, subject to a monetary ceiling of ₹17,00,000 as per the 11th Pay Revision Commission (to be revised under the 12th PRC).
